Isn’t it amazing to think that there will never be another day, week, or month when your baby is quite as new to the world as they are right now? Those first few weeks pass by so quickly—it’s a blur of new beginnings, sleepless nights, and tender first moments. That’s what makes the newborn stage so special—and so fleeting.

The Perfect Time for Newborn Photos

The ideal window for newborn photography is within the first two weeks after birth—typically between 8 and 12 days old (adjusted). During this time, babies are still in that naturally sleepy, curled-up stage. This allows for the calm, cozy poses that so many parents love. After those first couple of weeks, babies begin to stretch out and become more alert. They may also become less settled during posing.

That’s why planning ahead is so important.

At Haley Grant Photography, I reserve newborn sessions in advance based on your expected due date. This ensures that there’s always a spot on my calendar for your little one—whether they arrive early, late, or right on time. Once your baby is born, we’ll schedule your exact session date within that ideal 8–12 day window.

Booking early takes the stress out of timing and lets you focus on enjoying your baby’s arrival. You can relax, knowing your session is already secured.

Each newborn session at my Cedar Park home studio, just minutes from Austin, is customized using your preferred color palette and prop choices from my curated studio collection. I provide everything needed for a smooth, relaxed experience—including newborn outfits, wraps, headbands, hats, and props. This way, parents can simply arrive and enjoy the moment.
